Our School

Clyde Quay School has been in existence since 1889. It was originally sited on Oriental Bay. We have a proud history.

The varied backgrounds of the CQS community provide rich experiences for children. The school enjoys a multicultural whanau and we encourage parent involvement in all areas.

Clyde Quay School is a full primary (Y1-8) for around 240 students with 10 full time teaching staff and a number of ancillary staff who support curriculum. We operate a whanau structure; apart from the new entrants, all 10 classes are a combination of two year levels.

Inquiry learning underpins teaching practice because it fosters a love of learning and curiosity. Team teaching facilitates inquiry learning and this approach occurs across the school.
