April 2012
Football Fanatics
Clyde Quay School was really well represented at an interschool soccer tournament at Wakefield Park yesterday by three teams from Years 4, 5 and 6. A day of school was replaced with having to play 3 section games and then another 3 or 4 graded games.
The Year 6 team made up of Max S, Ari, Jordan, Joseph, Thomas, Dion, Jason and Claudia and managed by Phil Sparks, won their section with the help of Saskia Cosgrove-Drayton who had to be drafted in from the year 4s to make up the minimum requirement of two girls for each team....this also meant no subbing off of the girls, so especially well done to both of them, tactician Ari, star goalkeeper Thomas and Max S for surviving the hardest tackle we saw all day.
The Year 5 team managed by Heather was made up of Joshua, Matthew, Mani, Ella W, Quinn, Pakorn and Thomas...so no subs there either. They came 2nd in their section and (were pretty certain) 3rd overall.
The Year 4 team, also with no subs, was Jamie, Monty, Zak, Darren, Michael, Lia and Chloe and was managed by Paul Kearns. They came 3rd in their section, and ended the day with a penalty shootout...only decided as a draw when another school asked for their ball back! Great penalty shooting Chloe and Zak, and goalkeeping Michael, Jamie and Darren.
Thanks to the team managers and other supporters, including Kirstyn, Gretchen and Robert for transport.

March 2012
Clyde Quay Cricketers Seize the Day
The sun shone brightly on the Clyde Quay cricketers on Wednesday 14th March. The year 5/6s went to Macalister Park in the morning and the team of Josh, Matt, Louis, Max S, Joe, Dion, Thomas PA, Sam & Ari notched up wins against Thorndon & Te Aro, and a wee loss to St Marks. The boys looked sharp and thanks to Peter, Michelle & Teacher Chris for looking after them.
The year 7/8 team comprised Alex, Will, Aran, Sumet, Ope, Cameron D, Ethan, Stan, Panga & Max M and they had their turn in the afternoon. They notched up two wins against Roseneath I & Roseneath II, and many thanks to Chris C, Teacher Chris & Margot for looking after them.
Well done to you all for getting out and making the most of these opportunities to represent your school and learn some new skills or practise old ones.
